Snacks for 1 Year Olds

Today’s question: what are some easy snack ideas for 1 year olds?

It’s obvious from what was submitted that “easy” is defined differently for everyone! I tried to categorize them below in a way that made the most sense for what you might be looking for.

Low Mess + Minimal Prep

  • Goldfish
  • Applesauce pouch or fruit + veggie pouch (we like the ones from Costco)
  • Rice cakes
  • Freeze dried fruit (we’ve gotten ours from Target, Aldi, or Trader Joe’s)
  • Cheddar Bunnies
  • Bamba
  • Phool makhana (lotus seeds)
  • That’s It bars
  • Little Bellies Pick-Me sticks (a fave!)
  • Cheerios (we like the veggie blend!)
  • Puffs
  • Yogurt melts
  • Amara smoothie melts
  • Yumi bars
  • Veggie straws
  • Cerebelly pouches
  • Good and Gather snack bars
  • Crackers
  • Teething wafers
  • Pirates booty
  • Once Upon a Farm Tractor Wheels (my son LOVES!)
  • Mini Nutrigrain Granola Bars
  • Slice of bread
  • TJ’s olives
  • Chickpea crackers
  • Frozen yogurt
  • Cheese: Babybel, shredded cheese, mozzarella cheese
  • Yogurt pouch
  • Frozen yogurt tubes

These are a little more messy depending on how you prepare and serve:

  • Any fruit would work as a snack, but specific ones listed were: watermelon, blueberries, mandarin oranges (we get the prepackaged ones from Costco!), grapes, kiwi, bananas, strawberries
  • Veggies: edamame was specifically recommended, but any veggie would work
  • Pickles

Bake, Cook, or Prepare:

  • Leftovers from previous meals
  • Turkey meatballs
  • Carrot zucchini muffins
  • Banana yogurt muffins
  • Oat and banana cookies
  • Homemade goldfish
  • Apple banana muffins
  • Waffles
  • Pear cooked in cinnamon
  • Oatmeal pancakes
  • Banana bread
  • Oat bars
  • Fruit ice pop
  • Sweet potato fries
  • Boiled eggs or egg whites
  • Mini quiches
  • Rice balls with goat cheese inside
  • Bean and cheese fritters
  • Veggie fritters
  • Roasted apple slices
  • Peanut butter toast
  • Hummus toast
  • Avocado toast
  • Steamed mashed carrots with cinnamon and butter
  • Toast with cream cheese
  • Rice cake with mashed avocado and egg
  • Cauliflower rice balled and cooked in air fryer
  • Spinach banana pancakes
  • Chickpea veggie bites (roast bunch of veg, put in food processor, pan fry into patties)
  • Wrap toasted with nut butter and banana
  • Banana zucchini mini muffins

No Cook Combos:

  • Cheese and crackers
  • Fruit and yogurt
  • Banana slices topped with yogurt and hemp seeds
  • Ricotta and tomato
  • Cheese and lunch meat
  • Naan with hummus
  • Crackers and hummus
  • Cottage cheese and tomatoes
  • Avocado with hemp seeds
  • Smoothie
  • Cucumbers with tzatziki
  • Nut butter on rice cake
  • Yogurt, almond butter, and hemp seeds
  • Pears with shredded cheese
  • Homemade yogurt pouch: yogurt, berry, hemp hearts
  • Banana topped with pb
  • Crackers with cottage cheese
  • Cottage cheese blended with frozen fruit
  • Chia pudding
