Not really sure who started the diaper raffle trend, but it’s definitely a good one. It’s a great way for mom to stock up on plenty of diapers for her incoming little one and baby shower guests to have fun while doing so!

What is a Diaper Raffle?
A diaper raffle is a fun event to add to a baby shower, sip and see, gender reveal, baby sprinkle, or even just host on it’s own!
Essentially, guests will be instructed to purchase a pack of diapers of varying sizes prior to the event as their entry into the raffle. Then at the event, they’ll trade those in for a diaper raffle ticket.
At some point during the event there will be a drawing, and whoever has the winning ticket, or tickets, will win a prize!
Fun, simple, and a great way for the mom or parents to be to stock up on a bunch of diapers in a fun way.
Diaper Raffle Prizes
Diaper raffle prizes don’t have to differ from regular baby shower prizes, if you’re already doing those or want an idea of where to start. Sharing a few ideas below though to give you inspiration!
My advice for picking a prize is to select something fun but that people will actually use. No need to gift them something that will either sit on a shelf collecting dust or just be thrown out!
Don’t overthink it!
1. Gift Cards
Perhaps not the cutest prize option, but easily would be a favorite and definitely practical. Depending on how many prizes you need for the diaper raffle or other baby shower games, you could grab one of those multipacks to make things nice and easy.
I’d suggest going with something like Amazon, Target, or Starbucks, so you know any guest could use and appreciate it.
2. Insulated Water Bottle, Coffee Cup, or Wine Glass
These can be on the inexpensive side, but still quality prizes to give out. Everyone can always use a quality insulated drink container!

Diaper Raffle Signs
You should probably set up a sign somewhere at the event so your guests know where to place the diapers, and where to get their raffle tickets.
They also will give some basic instructions on the sign for anyone who is a little confused on how it all works. Fair – diaper raffles are definitely a newer thing!
Most of the signs on Amazon come with other pieces as well, like the box or the tickets, so if you’re looking for an all in one kinda thing, it’s definitely out there! We have a mix below.
Kept things more neutral in terms of the theme, but if you’re doing a themed baby shower you could easily search “princess diaper raffle sign”, or whatever the theme might be, and something will come up!

You can easily go with a box you already have or a bowl to place all the tickets for a drawing, but if you’d prefer a box, I suggest searching around on Amazon since they typically come with tickets and/or a sign and you could pick whichever works best for your theme!
Diaper Raffle Wording on Invitation
If you’re doing either a physical invitation or an emailed one, you need to share some diaper raffle wording so guest know what to do and know how to participate.
You can do this with either a specific invitation insert, which we’ll share some examples and options of below. Or you can share on the invitation itself, physical or email.
However, if you’re not sure what exactly to write, we’ve got you covered! I’d suggest no matter what wording you go with to point out bringing a variety of sizes. You don’t want mom and dad being stuck with 20 packs of newborn diapers, when baby probably won’t use that for long. This way people will be mindful to change things up.

How Many Winners Should There Be?
Up to you and how many prizes you feel you want to purchase for the guests.
At least one, of course, but feel free to do as many as you’d like! I would probably suggest considering if you’ll have prizes for other games though, so you aren’t having to buy bunches and bunches of prizes.
Is a Diaper Raffle Tacky?
Obviously, this is a matter of opinion, but no!
Diaper raffles are a fun way to have guests support the new baby and parents in an inexpensive way, since individual packs of diapers typically aren’t too too expensive, but they do add up over time. You’ll be helping mom and dad stock their diaper stash!
Plus, those who participate win a prize.
It’s just a great way to support the parents, the baby, and have a fun little activity for the shower, or whatever event it might be.
Plus, not everyone has to participate if they don’t want to! No one will know the difference if the guest decides not to bring a pack of diapers. Totally voluntary!
What About a Virtual Diaper Raffle?
If you’re throwing a virtual diaper raffle, shower, or any other event where it makes sense to keep things virtual, here’s how to go about making that happen!
On whatever the invitation is, share that there will be a virtual diaper raffle, you could easily use the wording examples from above.
Instruct guests to ship their pack of diapers to the mom and dad, and to leave a note with who it’s from, for ticketing purposes.
Then mom and dad can either use tickets if they’d like to fill them out, the shipping notes if they’re roughly the same size, or assign each person who participated a number then use a random number generator. Once a winner is selected, either mom and dad can reveal the winner over Zoom, or have the host do so. Fun and simple!
