Finding the best pacifier for newborn babies can be quite the challenge. Sharing below the only pacifier my newborn would take and could keep in his mouth for a while!

While I know pacifiers can be a somewhat controversial topic, I had no problems with them, and was on the hunt for the best pacifier for newborn babies. My little guy definitely was soothed by the sucking motion, so I thought he would take to a pacifier well, and maybe even it would buy us a bit more sleep!
This post is all about the best pacifier for newborn babies!
My sweet little newborn baby boy definitely was a big fan of the sucking motion, so I had a feeling a pacifier might be a good fit for him. We tried a ton and now I can confidently say which is the best pacifier for newborn babies, or at least my newborn baby!
There are SO many pacifier options out there, it can be overwhelming to know what to try.
One BIG piece of advice when selecting a pacifier: don’t stock up on a ton of one brand BEFORE you know your baby will take to them. Whether you’re going for aesthetics, pediatrician recommended, lactation consultant recommended, dentist recommended, or whatever the case may be. Recommendations don’t mean anything if your baby won’t take to it, or can’t keep it in their mouths.
And yes, when you’re doing your research, there are a ton of opinions about pacifiers out there from all kinds of professionals. Before having a baby this was something I cared about and wanted to do more research on. Now that I have a baby and am trying to get sleep, I really couldn’t care less 😂
I’m learning with newborns you gotta pick your battles. Right now, we are battling sleep deprivation, and if a pacifier can help with that, that’s my main concern. Later on we can switch it out if the one that’s working isn’t “good” for him for whatever reason.
Initially I thought I wouldn’t ever introduce a pacifier, but since my baby was comforted by sucking, I decided to give it a try. We tried 5-6 different brands before finally finding the one that worked. Turns out the best pacifier for newborn babies is…..
The Mam Pacifier!
Specifically, the Mam Newborn Pacifier.
My baby not only TOOK to this pacifier, but could KEEP it in his mouth. Plenty of others he either didn’t like or were too heavy for his mouth so he’d keep it in there for a minute tops. The Mam Pacifier he can easily keep in his mouth for an extended period of time, and he only gets better at it with every passing day.
The Mam Pacifier definitely soothes him when he’s fussing, helps him get back to sleep, or helps him stay asleep.
During the night or during the naps towards the end he usually starts to fuss, but I can quickly pop the Mam Pacifier back in and he settles right back down. It’s bought us more sleep for sure! I will take every extra minutes I can get at this point.
Apparently the Mam Pacifier is the best pacifier for breastfed babies. I’m not sure the details on that, but my baby is exclusively breastfed and this definitely works well for him.
If your baby is struggling to take or keep in a pacifier, I highly recommend giving the Mam Newborn Pacifier a try. They’re inexpensive, so even if they end up not working, it’s not too much money wasted. Others can be quite pricey! But this didn’t feel like a big investment if it didn’t work. Luckily it did, and hopefully it will for you too.
Sweet dreams!
