It can be really tough to find the perfect gestational diabetes bedtime snack, but these ideas will give you tons of inspiration of what to try out!

Finding a gestational diabetes bedtime snack that works for you is super tricky. And what works one week might not work the next. For me, this is what took the most trial and error.
Eventually, I needed insulin because no bedtime snack was the perfect solution. Please know, if you need to go on insulin, it’s NOTHING you’ve done wrong! Fasting numbers are the hardest to control, and pregnancy makes your hormones go wild.
That said, if you’re still experimenting and searching to find a solid bedtime snack, here are some ideas to try!

This post is all about gestational diabetes bedtime snack ideas.
I’ve seen some women say they skip a bedtime snack (because they aren’t hungry, don’t want, etc.) and end up with great fasting numbers. Something to experiment with/talk to your doctor about!
1. String cheese – a classic 😂 this was the only one that worked for me
2. A two good yogurt, 1/3 cup of Purely Elizabeth keto granola, 2 strawberries, a couple raspberries, no sugar peanut butter drizzled on top
3. Protein shake (Fairlife is the best, imo. But I know a lot of people like Purely Protein)
4. Yasso ice cream bar
5. A chicken drumstick
6. A sausage link (this is what my dr recommended me lol)
7. Popcorn
8. Kind ice cream bar
9. Ice cream Snickers bar
10. Triscuits and cheese
11. Two cheese sticks and some peanut M&Ms
12. Full fat ice cream
13. Handful of nuts
14. Hard boiled eggs and cheese
15. A glass of water soluble fiber
16. Honeycrisp apple and a spoon of peanut butter
17. Veggies and hummus
18. Bowl of multigrain Cheerios
19. Tuna snack pouch with whole grain crackers
Remember, you could try every bedtime snack idea under the sun and still have too high blood sugar numbers in the morning. Not your fault! Morning numbers are the trickiest, and going on insulin or medication just means your baby is properly protected. Best of luck!
