These egg free purée pancakes are super simple to make and work well for any babies out there with egg allergies!
I wanted to start experimenting with recipes that all of my egg free babies out there could enjoy. I can only imagine how stressful and difficult it must be to navigate life with a little one having to avoid certain common ingredients. I plan to incorporate plenty more egg free recipes going forward so your baby’s can enjoy these meals as well!
That said, I’m still learning! These pancakes are delicious, but a different texture than regular pancakes with egg. They likely are softer than you might expect. Still yum! But that’s to be expected with this recipe.
BABY LED WEANING
This would be a great recipe to serve babies starting at 6 months, once they’ve been safely introduced to the allergens in the pancakes. For younger babies, typically it’s best to serve bigger pieces since those are easier for them to hold. Half pancakes or strips would work well here. Once they develop the pincer grasp (pointer and thumb pinching together), then you can start to give them smaller pieces.

ALLERGENS
This recipe contains flour and dairy.
GF flour should work here. I think a dairy free yogurt should work here as well, make sure it’s a thick one.
I plan to test them again with an actual egg replacement, and will update here when I do. If you’d like to try, here’s one that has good reviews and is available online.
STORAGE
I would store these in the fridge for 4 days max, then transfer to the freezer. Freeze in a single layer, I typically will place on a baking sheet with parchment paper, and once frozen transfer to another container or ziplock bag. If you freeze altogether it’s impossible to separate, this makes it easy.
To reheat I put in the toaster oven until warm! Sometimes I serve them cold lol they work that way too.
SUBSTITUTES & ADD INS
Feel free to add in seasonings! Any flavor of puree should work.
If your batter seems too wet, add in more flour. Also cook on low so they can cook all the way through!
TOOLS USED/RECOMMENDED
Small spatula – I find these easiest to use when flipping small pancakes or other small fritters for baby

Egg Free Purée Pancakes
Ingredients
- 1 puree or pouch the one we used was 3.2 oz/90 g
- 1/4 cup all purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 2 tbsp full fat greek yogurt
- 1 tbsp water if needed, check batter first
Instructions
- Preheat skillet on medium-low heat
- Add all ingredients to a bowl and mix until combined
- Add 1 tablespoon of batter onto your hot greased skillet (we use avocado oil) and flip after a few minutes (5ish or so)
- Cook on other side for same time – you want to cook these low and slow so they cook through! But they will be softer inside than regular pancakes
- Serve and enjoy!
I hope your little one loves these! Thank you for reading!
