The 5 Things I Did That Helped Me Get Pregnant Quickly

If you are planning to start trying for a baby soon and wondering how you can get pregnant quickly, these are the few things I did that I believe helped us conceive on our first try!

Get Pregnant Quickly

Once you’ve made the decision to start your TTC journey, you’re probably hoping to get pregnant quickly. No one wants to wait long to conceive! Especially since you’ll still have 9 months of waiting ahead of you. I was so impatient about it, and thankfully, was able to get pregnant on our first try.

I think there were a few things that contributed to being able to get pregnant immediately, so I wanted to share them below for anyone looking for a few tips!

The 5 Things I Did That Helped Me Get Pregnant Quickly

Two important things to note before we dive in:

  1. Luck/genetics/fertility absolutely comes into play here. There are aspects of trying to make a baby that are out of your control. That said, there are of course some things you can do to help the process, and that’s what I’ll be sharing (from my personal experience!)
  2. If you’re deep in your TTC journey or have done some research already, none of this will likely be new information to you. This is geared towards women who are new to the TTC world and want some good info and tips to get them started and hopefully help the process along!

NOW…onto the tips!

Learning About Fertility Before Trying

Making a baby is not as simple as they make it look in the movies. Understanding fertility will be super helpful, even just a base understanding.

It will make it so that when you start tracking your own ovulation or fertility (more on that below), you’ll understand what to look for. You’ll know what fertility signs are, so that tracking will actually make sense and allow you to give yourself the best possible chance when trying!

I had purchased a few books to understand fertility but honestly I didn’t read them lol. I found searching on Reddit to be most helpful! And watching TikTok videos.

Two things you should understand and look more into before trying: how to predict and track ovulation, fertile window, and fertile signs.

Tracking Ovulation Before Trying

This is without a doubt my BIGGEST piece of advice. It’s 100% the most helpful thing I did for myself!

If you are not tracking your ovulation in any capacity, GET STARTED. There is a lot to learn and understand when it comes to making a baby. Understanding your body is KEY!

You might think, well I’m tracking my period, so I’m already doing that. Nope. Tracking your period is not enough. Even if the app/way you’re tracking tells you when you are ovulating, it is likely not enough. Those apps predict when you will be ovulating, and it *could* be right, but it’s based on the average women’s cycle, and cycle’s can vary SO much person to person.

The average woman’s cycle is 28 days, so that means ovulation happens around day 14. For me, my cycle is 25 days, and ovulation happens around day 10. If I went off averages, I would have completely missed my window of opportunity!

Starting to track ovulation and pay closer attention to your own body’s fertile signs can really help the process along. If you do this before trying to make a baby, you’ll better understand when you yourself are most fertile, which can help give your body the best possible chance to conceive!

There are a handful of fertile signs, so knowing what to look for is important. For me, tracking ovulation itself with the pee sticks and cervical mucus was enough! There are other ways to track too and other signs to look for, so doing so ahead of time helps you figure out what works best for you and what is the clearest to understand!

I tracked ovulation with the test strips, and I had two I liked. For prior to TTC, I liked the Easy at Home ones because you get a ton in a pack! I tested for the days leading up to ovulation a TON so I could really get a clear idea of what my body was doing.

I also really liked the ClearBlue Ovulation Test. This made things super easy to understand! It basically just tells you if you’re not ovulating, close to ovulating, or ovulating with little symbols. Superrr clear.

I liked using the combo of the two. I think using the Easy at Home made it so you could know when to use the ClearBlue (which is more expensive.)

Easy at Home has an app that goes along with their strips, which also is super helpful for understanding your body and seeing patterns. Highly recommend!

I truly believe doing this ahead of time helped save me time so I knew EXACTLY when I was ovulating and when my fertile window was when it came time to try for a baby!

BD Every Other Day

BD = baby dance = sex. Other important TTC acronyms here!

Sperm can live up to 5 days in the body, so BD before ovulation means that sperm is chilling in your body where it needs to be when the egg is released. That’s the goal!

We BD every other day during my fertile window (the time leading up to ovulation.) This is what worked best for us! Find what works best for you and your partner.

Some people do every day, some people hold off until closer to ovulation. Just ensure you get some BD in during that fertile window!

BD As Close to Ovulation As Possible

Tracking ovulation allowed me to time BD as CLOSE to ovulation as possible. I’m pretty sure we BD like the morning I ovulated. I don’t know which BD lead to conception of course, but I’d be willing to bet this particular BD might have been *the one*.

Pre Seed

I don’t know if this helped, but we used Pre Seed (a fertility friendly lubricant) the 2 out of 3 times that we BD. I figured it MIGHT help and it certainly wouldn’t hurt, so we used it. I’ll definitely use it again for baby number 2!

These are all of the things I did that were within my control that I truly believed help me to get pregnant quickly. I hope there is some helpful information in here to guide you on your TTC journey! Sending lots of baby dust, and crossing my fingers you get pregnant quickly as well. As always, my inbox and DMS are always open ❤️
