Curious if morning sickness bands actually work and if they’re worth trying out? Sharing all about them below!

Morning sickness is it’s own special kind of torture. Not to mention the fact that it very often is NOT just in the morning. Who decided to call it that anyways?
While I was pregnancy I dealt with pretty rough “morning” sickness. Mine wasn’t throwing up, just intense nausea. I was desperate for anything to make it go away, or make it more bearable. Entire morning sickness bands aka sea bands.
This post is all about morning sickness bands and if they really work!
If you’re dealing with morning sickness, or all day sickness as I was, I’m sure you’re just as desperate as I was to find SOME kind of solution to help relieve it.
I was dealing with it all day long, and then as the weeks went on my mornings would be okay and nausea would kick in around noon, then a few weeks later it start at 2pm, and eventually all the way until it was just in the evenings. Took around 20 weeks for it to totally be gone. That’s a long time to be dealing with nausea.
It was pretty intense right away for me, so I asked my doctor early on if there was anything I could do to help it. I did try a variety of medications, and eventually one did help some. Highly recommend doing the same – you don’t need to suffer!
I had read something online, probably reddit, that people were trying morning sickness bands to help alleviate their nausea. I actually already had sea bands that I used for flying, so I slapped them on and gave them a try.
How do morning sickness bands work?
They work through acupressure! They apply pressure to an acupressure point on your wrists using the plastic bead on the wrist bands. They work best when using both at one time.
Do morning sickness bands work?
For me, I do think they took the edge off a bit!
You of course never know if it’s just a better day, or you drank more water and that helped, or you had the right combo of foods, or whatever else. There are a ton of variables at play.
But I do think they helped. They didn’t alleviate it completely by any means, but they made life more doable lol. They made the nausea more manageable.
I ended up using them for a while, even though I looked ridiculous wearing these morning sickness bands all the time! Didn’t care. Whatever was going to help my nausea was worth looking ridiculous for. Like I was legit wearing dresses and these bands. Did not care how silly I looked!
I of course don’t know if they’ll work for you, but they are inexpensive, so they’re worth a shot in my opinion.
Where is the nausea pressure point?
Super important for effectiveness that these are placed at the correct pressure point location. They should come instructions, but if not, this post demonstrates and explains exactly where to place them. It’s super simple!
How long does it take for morning sickness bands to work?
You should notice them working in just a few minutes!
How long can you wear morning sickness bands?
You can wear them as long as you want, all day and all night. I typically took them off to sleep and shower. I have read you should take them off to sleep so your body can “reset”, but I’m not sure how accurate that is. You might want to try both wearing them to sleep and taking them off to sleep to see if you notice any differences with how you feel!
Do morning sickness bands have any side effects?
Nope! Other than leaving a little mark where the plastic bead is and perhaps a funny tan line 🙂
Can morning sickness bands be used alongside other medications?
Never hurts to double check with your doctor, but yes, they can since these are medication free.
Where to buy morning sickness bands?
I got mine on Amazon! They probably are sold at most drug stores as well. There are some marketed for morning sickness or moms specifically, but you don’t need to get those. You can though if you’d prefer too!
Hopefully this helps give you an idea on how and if morning sickness bands work! Hope they help you and your nausea is gone soooooon!!
