If you’re like me, when TTC you’re obsessively searching for all the pregnancy symptoms after ovulation day by day, so I’m breaking down each and every little thing I experienced here for you!

The dreaded two week wait can be torturous to go through, and it’s impossible to not look into all the possible pregnancy symptoms after ovulation day by day.
They tell you not to symptom spot, but I personally found that impossible not to do. It’s a time where you’re getting more in touch with your body and counting down the days, hours, minutes until it’s time to finally take a pregnancy test. If you’re able to ignore all the little things going on with your body during that time, you must be Superwoman!
Reading up on other women’s symptoms helped me (for the most part) so I wanted to go into detail and share my pregnancy symptoms after ovulation day by day which ultimately lead to my positive pregnancy test!
Before diving into the symptoms, here are a few acronyms you should know!
TWW: two week wait, aka the two weeks in between when you’ve ovulated and when you take your pregnancy test
DPO: days past ovulation
TTC: trying to conceive
FMU: first morning urine (what you should be using for pregnancy tests)
One more thing…
I know there can be lots of debate around symptom spotting and how in those early DPO days any symptom you’re experiencing couldn’t possibly be related to pregnancy. Even the title of this post might be slightly controversial because they aren’t considered pregnancy symptoms to some (all?)
That said, I’m personally of the opinion that WE know our bodies best. If you’re noticing something different going on, there’s value to that!
Could it be all in your head? Sure. Could it just be progesterone, since early pregnancy symptoms and progesterone symptoms are nearly identical? Absolutely. But even so, it’s okay to pay close attention to your body and notice things are different. Even if it ends up not resulting in a pregnancy, it’s all playing apart in getting more in touch with your body and bringing you that much closer to your baby.
With that said let’s dive into my…
Pregnancy Symptoms After Ovulation Day By Day
1 DPO Symptoms
Alright, so this is day one! Let the symptom spotting begin 😝
Not a whole lot going on this day, since we’re only one day out from ovulation at this point. At the time I was trying to make a game plan to help me mentally get through the tww. I was feeling positive and ready to get through these next two weeks (that feeling quickly went away though, the tww is really something else!)
2 DPO Symptoms
Symptoms: dull cramps
This is where I really started to over analyze everything going on in my body.
Normally, when not ttc, during those two weeks in between ovulating and my period I experience a whole lotta nothing. Maybe a little moody, and maybe the dullest of dull cramps a day or two before my period, but nothing following ovulating.
So it really threw me for a loop that I was having some cramping this day. I know it couldn’t be pregnancy symptoms, but it was just so odd to me that something different was going on.
I experienced dull cramps most of this day. I obsessively checked every Reddit thread I could for all things 2dpo symptoms and what could mean pregnancy. Reddit gave me a reality check, but I couldn’t stay away and remain hopeful that somehow these new-to-me cramps meant *something*.
3 DPO Symptoms
Symptoms: cramps over, not much most of the day, heartburn late at night
On 3 DPO, the cramps were totally gone, which honestly left me a little disappointed because I was enjoying the distraction of googling and checking Reddit for everything early pregnancy symptoms and tww, and this day didn’t really give me a whole lot to search for. I was starting to feel kinda dumb for reading into my cramps the day before.
That said, at bed time I had really bad heartburn, over something really not all that acidic or heartburn-inducing. It was like mashed potatoes and something else on the bland side, I don’t remember. I am NOT someone who experiences heartburn on any kind of regular basis. MAYBE if I have something particularly acidic really late at night and immediately lay down, but even then, not so much. Just not something I deal with.
So the fact that I had some heartburn from something so bland had my mind racing with all the could this be it??? all over again.
4 DPO Symptoms
Symptoms: heartburn, feeling a bit sad (could just be from the over analyzing everything going on)
This day I woke up still experiencing that heartburn, which was definitely super odd for me. I never had experienced heartburn in the morning or during the day, so that was hard not to read into.
I was feeling a bit burnt out and low from the over analyzing of everything going on and reading Reddit thread upon Reddit thread. I felt like I was being totally naïve to read into anything going on since it couldn’t be related to pregnancy at this point, but I couldn’t resist. It was making me think that if this wasn’t my cycle then the next time we tried I was going to have to reevaluate my strategy to get through the tww.
5 DPO Symptoms
Symptoms: nothing during the day, very dull cramping on right side at night and a bit of lower back pain
This day was relatively uneventful during the day, but that night while I was doing the dishes I had some dull back pain, which was unusual. I also noticed some light cramping on my right side, which now I’m pretty sure was ovulation cramps!
At that point, I wasn’t really reading too much into it, but I did notice it going on.
6 DPO Symptoms
Symptoms: cramping continued all day just one one side, noticed I was veinier on my lower stomach and upper thighs leading to my uterus
We were at my mother-in-law’s house for the weekend, which was a muuuuch needed distraction!
I noticed the cramping from the evening of 5dpo continued into today. Again, just on the one side, very dull, but still noticeable.
I also noticed that the veins on my lower stomach and upper thighs were a lot more pronounced. At least, I thought so. It was one of those things where I hadn’t really paid much attention to those veins previously, so I couldn’t tell if they truly were more pronounced, or if I was imagining it and just searching for more signs of pregnancy.
Also worth noticing that I’m very fair, so it’s not all that hard to see my veins anyways, but I did make a mental note of this that day.
7 DPO Symptoms
Symptoms: still feeling like my veins were more noticeable
I think at this point the cramps were mostly over, but the veins were hard for me to ignore. I was very much wishing that I paid closer attention to my veins pre-ttc so that I could compare, lol. I wasn’t 100% sure or anything, but I really thought something was different with my veins in the upper thigh, lower stomach, and I started to notice them on my chest this day as well.
I remember going to my husband and being like “if I turn out to not be pregnant I’m going to be shocked because wtf are these veins? They must be something.” I was thinking either I was pregnant, or I was truly going insane.
8 DPO Symptoms
Symptoms: nausea, still veiny
This was the first day I took a pregnancy test! I brought exactly one to my mother-in-laws house so that I could test if I wanted to, but was forced to wait until 8dpo, since anything before that would truly truly be much to early. 8dpo obviously is still quite early, but didn’t feel quite as insane. I knew I could test that day and it *could* be positive, but also that if it was negative that didn’t mean we were out for that cycle.
Sure enough, there was a very faint, but very clear, second line ❤️
I was in shock, and if you care to watch me test in real time and see my reaction, you can watch that on my TikTok here!
We had my best friend’s son’s birthday party this day then we were heading back home. I spent the whole party going in and out of the bathroom and checking the picture of the pregnancy test. I was in absolute disbelief.
Could not wait to get home so I could force myself to sleep immediately and test again the next day!
I did test that night too with a Clearblue early detection test, and it was even fainter than that morning, which makes sense since it was end of the day urine. But I still was pretty sure I could see something!
I took a test early early that morning, and the party was early afternoon. Right before we were about to leave for the party, nausea kicked in. Again, I had no idea if my mind was making all of this up at this point, but I was definitely nauseous and nervous I would throw up at the party, lol.
The test that gave me my first positive was a Bird&Be. I had heard they were the most sensitive, so that’s what I brought with me. They actually gave me a discount code to share which is MESSYBUN10 for 10% off your first order (not an affiliate code, just a discount for y’all). Highly recommend!!
9 DPO Symptoms
Symptoms: waves of nausea
This day I still woke up in disbelief, but took 6 pregnancy tests.
Each and every one was clearly positive, including the digital. Still didn’t believe it, but it was hard to dispute at that point! Here’s the TikTok of all of those tests and my reaction!
10 DPO – Missed Period Symptoms
Symptoms: these all varied day to day and came in waves – nausea, decreased appetite and hunger, very thirsty, peeing more, veiny, more out of breath, hotter at night while sleeping, cramping/twinges, and pregnancy brain
From 10DPO until my missed period (and beyond) I felt I ran through a million symptoms. It made me think of an overture at the beginning of a musical and that I was getting a sneak preview of all the symptoms to come in the coming weeks and months 😂
They very much varied day to day and came in waves, but all were noticeable changes for me. Little did I know that nausea I was feeling was just the beginning, but more on that another time.
In Summary…
I absolutely experienced symptoms leading up to my positive pregnancy test very early on. Google, Reddit, and even straight up science will tell you these were just progesterone symptoms and had nothing to do with pregnancy. That could be the case! I have no way to know. But what I do know is that everything I did experience was NOT made up in my head and was very different than previous cycles where I wasn’t ttc. Do with that what you will.
I don’t want to give anyone false hope, that is my biggest fear. But I do want to encourage you to not let the internet make you not believe your own body.
Even if you experience all of the symptoms that I did and it results in a negative pregnancy test, it’s still progress in the sense that you are getting more in touch with your own body and cycles, which I believe to be crucial in the ttc process. Everything you learn about yourself gets you that much closer to that positive test.
Sending lots and lots of love and baby dust ✨ ✨
