This is the ultimate list of pregnancy must haves so you can survive and perhaps even enjoy these challenging nine months! Of course, it might not be challenging at all! If that’s the case, savor it!
These are the pregnancy must haves that seriously saved me throughout my pregnancy. If you are newly pregnant, trust me, these are absolutely essential to get you through the next 9 months!
Whether you’re dealing with nausea, skin dryness, or just need some solid maternity wear recommendations, we’ve got you covered!
Plus, a few other products that I see mentioned as essentials, and why I think you can skip them.
This post is all about pregnancy must haves!
I’m going to go ahead and assume you’re already taking a prenatal vitamin and not include that in the list, but if you haven’t gotten on that, call your doc and ask for what they recommend!
There are certainly plenty of other must haves depending on your symptoms. For example, tissues were essential for me because I was always a bit congested. I developed gestational diabetes, so string cheese was essential ๐ But I’m keeping this to more general/common symptoms.
If you have gestational diabetes though, here are a bunch of snack ideas!
1. Panty liners
TMI alert…an unfortunate symptom of pregnancy is an increase of discharge. Yep. Trust me when I say panty liners are a MUST. Otherwise you’ll be changing your underwear every hour. Ugh.
These ones were my go to. You need the anti-bunch version from how often you pull up and down your underwear to pee all day and night ๐
2. Ginger anti nausea candies
Super common to deal with nausea in some form or another. These ginger chews come in a giant pack and I always had them on me and actually made a huge difference.
3. Straw cap insulated water bottle
This became my emotional support water bottle when I was pregnant. I was constantly thirsty. Could NOT get enough water. You know when you wake up in the middle of the night parched and have a sip of water that just hits so different? That’s what water was always like for me when pregnant. Helped with nausea too!
Still going strong with it postpartum while breastfeeding (even more thirsty than when pregnant – didn’t know that was possible)
4. Aquaphor
I found that my skin was extra dry when I was pregnant, so aquaphor was a must.
5. Lotion
Same for lotion! I used on my belly too, but pretty sparingly. I got minimal stretch marks, but I think I’m proof that it’s genetic because I didn’t really do anything all that special.
6. Maternity leggings
Wore these leggings all the time, from pretty early on and throughout my pregnancy. They’re pricey, but worth it imo. I know there are plenty of high rated ones on Amazon though if you’d rather! I went with my regular size and they fit great.
7. Maternity underwear
I wore these maternity underwear ALL throughout my pregnancy, and still wearing them postpartum. Really comfortable, even with a 9 month belly! True to size.
8. Maternity bike shorts
Absolutely loved these maternity bike shorts. Super soft and comfortable! Wore them under dresses a lot or just with a loose tank top. TTS.
9. Maternity shapewear
I wore these nude shapewear shorts under dresses a ton and to help with any chafing on my inner thighs. Just kept everything in place! I went with my regular size.
10. belly band
I used this support band from about 6 months on when going on walks and noticed a huge difference when I did. It’s adjustable, so you can use it as you grow.
11. Comfy shoes
One symptom I had was foot pain. I could not be barefoot in the house! Crocs and these New Balances were my savior!!! Never thought I’d be a Croc girly, but here we are.
12. compression socks
If you plan on flying, definitely grab yourself a pair of compression socks. Pregnant women are prone to blood clots, and this helps with circulation. Helps even if you’re not flying too!
13. morning sickness bands
If you are blessed during your pregnancy with no nausea, consider yourself a lucky lady.
If you’re dealing with morning sickness or any form of pregnancy nausea, I did notice a difference when using morning sickness bands. Magic cure all? No, but they helped take the edge off on the really bad days.
Shared all about my experience with morning sickness bands, or Sea Bands in THIS post!
14. Heating pad
Aches and pains are common with pregnancy. I eventually developed some upper back pain, and using a heating pad was so so necessary for me.
15. Tums
Heartburn is another common one, and it’s unlike heartburn you’ve experienced when not pregnant, at least it was for me. It’s brutal. Have some Tums on hand, just in case!
16. An amazon prime subscription
Lol for real though. You never know what you’re going to need, so 1 or 2 day shipping honestly is an essential!
What pregnancy products can you skip?
PRegnancy Pillow
I think this is either a love it or hate it thing. I didn’t find it made me sleep any more comfortably, but maybe it was just the particular pillow I used. I did like that it kind of kept me from rolling onto my back, but for the most part I didn’t use it.
Plus they are MASSIVE! It’s kind of annoying.
Stretch mark cream
I’m sure some people swear by their stretch mark cream, but I think you can skip it. I had one, but used it so inconsistently. Like probably less than 5 total times. Wasn’t a fan of rubbing lotion all over my belly. I never developed stretch marks during pregnancy, but immediately after giving birth two popped up on my belly. I really think it’s just genetic and you can’t do much to prevent them, but that’s just me!
Those are all of the pregnancy must haves that got me through my entire pregnancy and that I’ll absolutely be turning to again if I’m lucky enough to get pregnant again!
